Our management team has extensive experience in all phases of solar project development, from initial site identification to completion of construction. As a result, we have a broad network of contacts throughout the solar industry, including utilities, developers, EPC contractors, investors and lenders. We emphasize communication and collaboration with our partners to ensure that solar facilities are suitably located, appropriately sized, and well integrated with the electric grid.
Cullen Morris, Principal
Cullen Morris hails from the software industry and brings years of project management experience. Prior to forming Cooperative Solar, he spent three years building a deep pipeline of solar projects for Strata Solar. As Vice President of Development, Cullen managed over 150 projects, more than 70 of which have been built in North Carolina to date. This pipeline, totaling more than 1,200 MW, consisted of projects in every stage of the development process. He has a thorough understanding of what it takes to develop and build a utility scale solar facility. Cullen has an engineering degree from Virginia Tech and a Masters in Energy Management from Duke University.
Latham Grimes, Principal
Latham Grimes is an attorney, developer and investor with over 5 years in solar and almost 20 years of legal, real estate and development experience. From 2012 until 2015, as the General Counsel of Strata Solar, he was responsible for the financial closings of over 500 MW of solar projects with a value of almost $1 billion. Latham excels at team building, strategic visioning and tactical execution. A Morehead-Cain Scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he also attended law school, Latham is a North Carolina native with deep roots in the state.
Jeff Daniel, Principal
Jeff Daniel has been working in biotechnology for the past 14 years in various finance, accounting and administrative roles, most recently as Chief Financial Officer of Intercell USA, a subsidiary of a European biotechnology company. His responsibilities included the oversight of finance, human resources, information technology and administration. He has been through various corporate lifecycle stages, including early round venture-backed, IPO, and acquisition by a foreign corporation. Jeff has extensive experience in managing complex processes and executing plans on time and within budget. Prior to working in biotechnology, he worked in the audit practice of Coopers and Lybrand. Jeff holds both a Bachelors degree in Political Science and a Masters degree in Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Matt Farley, Associate Developer
Matt Farley focuses on site identification, acquisition, and project management in the utility scale solar market. He is a North Carolina native from Charlotte and recently graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BA in Peace, War, and Defense and Asian Studies focused in Mandarin Chinese. Before coming to Cooperative Solar, Matt, a Fulbright grant recipient, worked as an English as a second language instructor in Taiwan.
Rex Young, Associate Counsel
Rex Young focuses on site acquisition, real estate, regulatory, and other legal matters. A native of the Virginia coalfields, Rex holds degrees in Government and the Environmental Sciences from the University of Virginia and a Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina School of Law. Rex is licensed to practice law by the Virginia State Bar and his practice areas of interest include land use, energy, and administrative law.
